Having had possibly one of the longest journey’s to Lisbon out of all attendees, Paul arrived in Lisbon after a short stop in London having left Auckland at the beginning of the week. Copenhagen was also visited briefly.
This culminated in one of the regular meetings of International Referral members at the Dealmakers conference in Lisbon. Local member João Valadas Coriel of Valadas Coriel & Associados was kind enough to play host as the local member in this fantastic city of culture and cuisine.
Timing is always opportune. A New Zealand client of ours who has recently established a UK entity is expanding further afield throughout Europe in The Netherlands and subsequently Germany. A review of the franchise agreement by lawyers ensuring it’s conformity under UK law, together with a tax planning exercise required for setup in The Netherlands and Germany meant Paul was able to connect face-to-face with local representatives from those jurisdictions and partake in a conference call with the client, who happened to be in Amsterdam on a short visit.
For the three members of IR Global to be physically present in the same place and have an introductory call with the client is always useful. In a world surrounded by technology, the form of human interaction is always a preferred option for conducting business.
It wasn’t all work and no play. With a fabulous dinner organised by IR, the view overlooking the river was stunning, while some members enjoyed a private dinner hosted by João.
We were also formally reunited with Hannah Budd.
Roll on #IRToronto18 in May.
